NATURE'S OIL CHOICES......

Oil exists as two main types in nature.One as  organic oil, produced from plants and animals. The other as  mineral oil namely crude oil,  found within the earth, and originates from fossilized organic materials like algae and zoo-plankton.  Organic oils derived from plants (Vegetable oils) and animals ( lard & tallow) have a wide variety of food and non -food uses.

The most experimented non- food use of organic oils is,  vegetable oil  as a bio-diesel. These experiments begun since  the 1900's. The 1900 world fair, was the first public demonstration of biodiesel.The diesel engine was commissioned by the French Government, and designed by the Otto company  to run on peanut oil.  The first industrial biodiesel plant was set up in 1989, by the Austrian company Gaskoks.

Crude oil,  although naturally occurring is nonrenewable. It's hard to imagine crude oil as nothing but the  "most important" natural resource of industrialized nations. But, there was a time it was just an undesirable by-product of drilling  salt water from brine wells. The  first modern commercial oil well. was dug by F.N. Semyenov on the Aspheron Peninusula northeast of Baku in 1848. However, George Bissell is regarded as the  patriarch of the modern oil industry . 

Crude oil may be nonrenewable but, depleted oil reservoirs can be recovered.How? Technology like the Activated Environment for Recovery of Oil(AERO), help bring spent oil wells "back to life".   Microorganisms can be used  not only to increase oil production, but also mop up oil spills.

Food, sustains. art,  expresses . So, what do you get when you combine them?   Rice , has been described as a staple food, for more than half of the world's population. It is typically grown in flooded fields known as rice paddies. Through the tanbo art process, rice paddies are being transformed into stunning works of art. It began,in  Inakadate , Japan. In 1993, the first rice paddy art was created, using purple and yellow rice plants. It was the picture of Mt. Iwaki along with letters.
